A New South Wales club has taken the honour of giving away the state’s first 10-spot Keno jackpot in 2022 – a cash prize worth more than $1 million.
The Portland RSL Sport Recreation Club in the Central Tablelands celebrated the win that saw a local customer reach millionaire status thanks to the jackpot that went off at the busy venue on the night of Friday 7 January.
Portland RSL Sport Recreation Club president Denis Kelly said the entire team was celebrating the million-dollar win, which he witnessed in person.
“What a fantastic prize to win,” he said. “I was in the club when the 10 spot went off and everyone was so excited.
“It’s a big win for Portland, so, as you can imagine, it’s the talk of the town.
“We’re all so happy for the winner and hope they can use their prize in some exciting ways.
“Big wins like this are not only great for the winner, but our venue and the community, so hopefully we have another soon.”
With all the excitement, the winner of the state’s first big jackpot is keeping things quiet.
How they plan to enjoy their Keno prize will remain a mystery, but one thing is certain, their life has been changed forever.
