Keno to Launch a Year-long Celebration for their 30th Anniversary

ClubCOLLECTIVE September 2021

Kicking off in September, ClubsNSW and Tabcorp Keno will launch a year-long celebration for the 30th Anniversary of the game that revolutionised the state’s club industry — reinforcing a pioneering and enduring partnership.

The game was first trialled across 13 clubs in the Newcastle region and the first draw went live on 13 September 1991. Three decades on and the name Keno resonates with millions of Australians, claiming a deserved place in our history and contributing to the backbone of NSW’s vibrant club industry.

Keno has come a long way since its early days. In March 2008, the ClubsNSW/Tabcorp-licenced Keno game expanded beyond the initial NSW club market, launching into the state’s hotels. Currently, the ClubKeno Holdings game is played in 881 clubs in the state, and across 896 hotels, generating an annual turnover of $628 million in FY2020/21.

Since its launch in 1991, millions of club members and guests have shared the joy and excitement of playing, hundreds of thousands of players have won jackpots amounting to a staggering $7.8 billion in cash prizes, and clubs have retained more than $1.15 billion in commissions.
