ClubCollective July 2026
A new federal grant program is putting up to $100,000 per club on the table for solar, batteries, LED lighting, HVAC and disaster-ready upgrades.
It's called Game On: Teaming Up for Climate Action. The Commonwealth is funding clean energy upgrades for incorporated community sporting clubs across Australia, with around 500 grants nationally and up to 100% of project costs covered. Round 1 opened 1 July 2026, and groups of clubs can apply jointly.
That last point matters: a regional association can run a single application across multiple member sites.
What's at stake for the average club
A typical floodlit club in New South Wales spends $15,000 to $30,000 a year on electricity. Field lighting drives roughly half of that, refrigeration another 30%. The right mix of LED, solar and battery storage can cut a club's bill by 40 to 65%.
