As the industry heads into a busy festive period, Wirely’s new CEO, Stu Taggart is reflecting on the central role clubs play in their communities and the challenges facing the people who operate them.
As we roll into this time of year when everyone is getting together with friends and family, it’s really reminded me of what a crucial role our clubs play in Australia’s good times.
I have heard a lot about how tough it is getting into hospitality these days. The stress of ever-increasing costs, more demanding compliance, and getting and keeping good people has been sucking the good times out of owning and running hospitality venues. I believe Wirely now has the capacity to respond to that, and that is what attracted me to the role.
Wirely is a relatively young company, just five years old, but it has grown quickly. More than 700 venues and businesses across Australia are now trusting us to take a lot of the stress, paperwork and uncertainty out of their working lives. They’re saving time and money, and they have information they can trust when they need it.
A software product that was born in response to a simple need to take the spreadsheets out of a pub’s everyday financial management has now matured into a service with the scale, technical grunt and first-hand industry experience to really make a difference to the lives of people working across the whole sector.
The team at Wirely and I are really ambitious for that opportunity, and we are set to invest even more significantly in it in 2026. We want our best practice financial operations management software, which works seamlessly with your existing POS, accounting and other systems, and is simple and intuitive to use, to bring peace of mind to all the people who own and run our pubs and clubs.
