Harassment in the Workplace

ClubCOLLECTIVE October 2024

Ensuring the safety and well-being of staff in the hospitality industry, particularly from sexual harassment, is of critical importance. The hospitality sector, with its unique work environment, often faces challenges in maintaining a respectful and safe workplace, making it essential to implement robust policies and preventive measures.

SafeWork NSW has a dedicated team, the Respect@Work Taskforce, working with various industries on this issue, responsible for educating businesses on their duties to prevent sexual harassment and developing resources to assist in managing these risks.

HII has also developed resources to assist, with our newly launched Harassment Health Check tool an easy way for you to get a gauge of your businesses maturity when it comes to identifying and addressing harassment in the workplace.

You can access the tool here: https://sjc1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_bDcmzYNYlBfqamG

We also have learning modules available on HiiLearning around sexual harassment specifically and psychosocial hazards more generally.

You can access via the link here: https://hii.au/welcome-hiilearning

In the meantime, if you would like to discuss anything related to the Respect@Work taskforce or WHS more generally, please don’t hesitate to contact our WHS team on 02 8251 9069 or E: info@hii.au
