Gaming Machine Tax Adjustments

23-123 | 25 July 2023

Relevant for Directors, CEOs, Managers

Member clubs are advised that Liquor and Gaming NSW (L&GNSW) will continue to undertake adjustments for clubs’ gaming machine tax on an ongoing basis.

Since the 2020 gaming year, L&GNSW has adjusted clubs’ tax liability to account for tax overpayment, without the club needing to apply. The adjustment was processed once venues received their tax invoices from MAXgaming.

Starting from the 2023-2024 financial year, necessary adjustments will be processed before issuing gaming machine tax invoices on 14 September. This will account for any ClubGRANTS rebate and any gaming machine tax adjustment required.

On 21 September 2023, Revenue NSW will direct debit the appropriate tax liability, as per the tax invoice, from the club’s nominated bank account.

L&GNSW will action any adjustment resulting in a tax credit greater than the amount on the invoice after the direct debit on 21 September. Revenue NSW will then process a refund, and an updated Assessment Notice will be provided to the relevant club.

For further information on the adjustment of gaming machine tax, please visit NSW Liquor and Gaming.

If you wish to speak to ClubsNSW about the program, please email enquiries@clubsnsw.com.au or call ClubASSIST on 1300 730 001 and ask to speak with a Policy and Government representative.
